Set 2 blocks from Metro Center, 1250 I street was constructed in the early 80’s and in need of a new look to attract tenants. The scope for this repositioning included the main lobby, a parking lobby, and multiple levels of common corridor and restroom renovations. The design goal was to create a jewel box entry focused on Franklin Park which was kitty- corner to the lobby. The frameless glass canopy was hung from the point-supported glass wall to create an unobstructed view of the park. Once inside the lobby, ivory italian travertine was used on the floors to brighten the space while the linear pattern of the Macassar Ebony feature lead you to the elevator lobby. Much of the space was lit indirectly through cove lighting both in the ceiling and along walls to brighten what was a dark lobby space.
